Is OCR maths GCSE hard? ›

OCR – These exams are said to be the easiest however the grade boundaries are high. Edexcel – This board has the toughest science questions alongside AQA but edexcel takes a slight upper hand here. Edexcel – The time limit of this exam is said to be difficult to cope with.

Edexcel has said that the papers they have seen are a hoax. If another paper which was real was being circulated, you should tweet @PearsonEdexcel, if people haven't done so already.

At each tier there is one non-calculator exam. We've placed this as the middle exam so that in their first exam students have the reassurance of having a calculator with them! For both tiers (Foundation and Higher) we ease students into the paper by starting with lower demand questions.

There is no limit to the number of times you can retake your GCSEs, nor is there an age limit for taking your GCSEs. However, it is a requirement to receive a minimum grade of 4 on the compulsory subjects: maths and English. You are required to retake your GCSEs as many times as needed to pass.

OCR is the easiest exam board for both GCSE English Literature and English Language. Looking at the minimum mark required to achieve a grade 9 in GCSE English Literature, it is easiest to achieve a grade 9 under OCR, and hardest to achieve a grade 9 under WJEC Eduqas.

Is 70% a pass in GCSE Maths? ›

It is the minimum mark at which a numbered grade (from 9 to 1) can be achieved. As an example, if the grade boundary for Grade 6 is 70 marks, 70 would be the minimum mark required in order to get a Grade 6. So 70 would be a Grade 6, but 69 would be a Grade 5.

The foundation paper caps grades at Grade 5. The higher paper has a minimum grade of Grade 4, with anything under that becoming ungraded. There is more content to learn in the higher papers, that if you have been set a foundation class for years, will be difficult (but not impossible) to learn in Year 11.

Setting grade standards for GCSEs

A formula is used which means that around 20% of all grades at 7 or above will be a grade 9. The grade 8 boundary will be equally spaced between the grade 7 and grade 9 boundaries.

That being said, we recommend using a graphing calculator on the SAT, assuming that you have access to one and know how to use it. The graphing calculators we find most common for the SAT are the TI-84 and the TI-Nspire, but other brands work just as well.

In other words, all versions of TI-84 Plus and TI-Nspire™ CX (excluding CAS) graphing calculators are allowed on the ACT® exam.
