October and especially November are essentially the crappy months between summer, with its associated water activities, and winter in lake Bled, with its associated snow activities (see examples of popular Lake Bled outdoor activities here ). So why did we visit Lake Bled at the worst time of year?

There is a small fee to visit the church tower. Powerboats are banned from the lake so to get to the island you can either rent a row boat or take a wooden boat called a pletna to the island. The Pletnas hold 20 people and run all year round, this is the easiest way to get to the island.

Typically, with the weather getting warmer, it seems that fall colors in the Bled area now begin in early October. Generally, the second half of October is a good bet, but there are no guarantees with nature.
